Ribbon Flower Tutorial

I've received many requests for a tutorial on this ribbon flower I made for the Piece of Cake Blog Hop and I had good intentions of making a tutorial but time got the best of me!!

So....I've decided to point you in the direction of Courtney's Blog where she shows how to make one out of fabric...I used the same concept, just used ribbon instead.  Hope this helps everyone and sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your requests :0)

Valentine Party Place Cards.....

I was asked to do 11 valentine's cards for a luncheon a good friend is having.  Her only requirement was that they resemble place cards (no opening and folding over) and the size be between 5" and 6".  Below is what I came up with....
-----------------------------------
I just LOVE the shabby-chic look so I had FUN  with this....I used retired Blush B&T, Amore paper packet, White Daisy Cardstock, Pewter Brads, Dimensional Elements Hearts and Bookplates (Retired), Tulip Cardstock, Liquid Glass, Colonial White Crocheted Ribbon, White Daisy Textured Cardstock, Desert Sand Ink, Chocolate font stamp set, Sponge and Cricut Cartridge Doodlecharms.

Each attendee has a descriptive word that pulls out of the tiny envelope...

Bee My Honey....

Day 4 (a few days late....I need to play catch-up on my photo-taking)

My man LOVES Honey....he puts it in his oatmeal, his hot tea, his granola cereal...the list goes on and on!!!  So I thought this was fitting!!!

Once again I was inspired by one of Jeanette's Color Me Monday Challenges (this one is from this Summer).  I used Bella paper packet, Cranberry Cardstock and B&T (retired), Creme Brulee Cardstock, White Daisy Textured Cardstock, Cocoa Grosgrain Ribbon, Bee Mine Petite Perks Stamp Set (back of Spring 2010 Idea Book), Exclusive Inks: Cranberry, Creme Brulee & Cocoa.  The clothes pin has a Clear Craft Button tied on with Natural Hemp and the little bee from the Petite Perks stamp set stamped in the center of some Creme Brulee Cardstock....I think that's all.

I just wrapped a piece of B&T around the Honey Bottle, adhered the flap and layered with the sentiment block.  I chose to clip my "Bee my Honey" using a covered clothes-pin (LOVE these things and it's all because of Michelle) onto the sentiment block.  I wrote a little sweet note under the clipped piece of White Daisy Textured Cardstock (you know...I love you, blah, blah, blah).

---------------------------------------------------
I stamped a bee on Creme Brulee Cardstock and then adhered to my Clear Craft Button using Liquid Glass.
---------------------------------------------
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that Textured Cardstock!!!!  I stamped the bigger bee a second time on cardstock and cut out...used tiny 3-D Foam Squares to add dimension.
---------------------------------------------------------
I purchased a romance novel (in French) at my local Salvation Army and used the pages to make this flower...believe it or not, he seemed more impressed by this flower than he did the honey...go figure :0)  I put a heart (Dimension Elements Hearts covered with Cranberry B&T) on a 3-D Foam Square in the center.
------------------------------------------------
Just slide off the B&T cover to reveal and use the Honey.
---------------------------------------------
This picture was an attempt to show you the B&T wrap off the bottle.

You drive me BANANAS....

Day 3....

I had to ask my teenage son if "you drive me bananas" was a good thing...lol.  When I was planning all the days, this immediately popped in my head (number 1...QT loves dried bananas and number 2...I love this monkey image from Life's a Jungle!!!).  The more I read it...the more I thought that maybe driving someone bananas means that they make you crazy....I've decided that this "bananas" is a good kinda crazy!!!

I used Jeanette's CMM from January 11th which includes Cocoa, Crystal Blue, Hollyhock & Garden Green.  I used B&T from Notebook, Cocoa Textured Cardstock (did you know that the backside of textured cardstock is a lighter shade of the frontside???  That's whay my monkey body is...the backside of the Cocoa textured cardstock!!!) and Cocoa Ink, Garden Green Cardstock and Garden Green ribbon (from a retired Creative Basics, I think) and a Hollyhock Button on the front and Hollyhock Ink on the "U" from the Dimensional Elements Mongrams - U...and tan hemp.

We make a perfect pair....

Here's Day 2 of Valentine's gifts for QT....I'm fighting strep throat so this one is a quickie!!!

I used the same Color Me Monday challenge from Jeanette as I did yesterday (Tulip, Juniper, Black & White)....I used our WONDERFUL Textured Cardstock again and the Tulip Hearts B&T from Animal Cookies.

I used Dimensional Elements Hearts for the box handles....

----------------------------------------------------
Inside he found 3 pairs of dress socks....he's always needing those!!

I'm a sucka for your love....

My PLAN is to make QT a little goodie for each day preceeding Valentine's Day (I'm usually the one that does these "little" things and then he pulls out all the stops on the "day").

Thanks to Jeanette, I found my color inspiration from her Color Me Monday challenge from a couple of weeks ago.

Here is my 1st little gift which I left for him on the bathroom vanity so he'd be sure to find it AND know it was meant for him (I often leave things for him to view and critique so I didn't want him to be confused....lol).

I used Textured Cardstock (Black & White)...BY THE WAY - CLICK <<<HERE>>> to see CTMH's Hearts for Haiti special going on this month, Animal Cookies pp (heart B&T), Perfect Day (backside of Juniper B&T....LOVE that CTMH's backside is the same pattern just in a solid color).  I added White Daisy Ricrac, Black Ribbon, and Dimensional Elements Hearts to the suckers and to the front of the box.  I also used a NEW A-size stamp set (same stamps, NEW price - $7.95), A Love.  I threw in some transparencies for the box wrap and added cardstock to the back for stability.  ETA: I forgot to mention the soft set eyelets and soft set eyelet tool I used for the sucker-stick holes....EASY PEASY and I did it QUIETLY while everyone was asleep!!!

----------------------------------------------------
Top view of the suckers (throught the transparency wrap)....You can see how well the Textured Cardstock sands....adds such dimension!!!

---------------------------------------------------------
Here's a closeup of my hearts...the black is stamped with A Love stamp set and the Tulip is a DE Heart covered with the Animal Cookies Heart B&T....I also used the White Daisy Ricrac to tie around the entire base of the box....I sure wish ricrac tied a bow easier!

P.S.  The suckers are Tootsie-Roll suckers and come in a bright pink wrapper which did not match my color combo so I decided to unwrap them and rewrap them in the bags that you buy in the candy-making section of most stores....mine happen to be CTMH but they're from a couple of years back and I'm not sure CTMH sells them anymore.

Piece of Cake anyone?

Welcome to February's Blog Hop using CTMH's Stamp of the Month, Piece of Cake!!!  This is a SUPER CUTE set that can be used for birthdays, weddings and even the cake layers can be stamped, cut apart and can be used as presents!!

We have over 60 consultants participating this month and if you've come from Jody's blog, you're on the right track!!

This month I decided to make 2 cards, one using a NEW paper packet, Caboodle, and the other using Stardust!!!

For my first card, I used Caboodle (Buttercup, Crystal Blue, Sorbet & Sweet Leaf) and CTMH's Wishes Card Confidence Program - Name Plate (3"x6").  I used Heavenly Blue ribbon 'cause I didn't have any Crystal Blue but I think it turned out okay anyway.  I used Pewter Photo Hangers and paper pieced everything except the candles - I used markers on those.  I inked distressed everything with Grey Wool Ink (direct to paper).

-----------------------------------------------------------
For this next card, I used the Stardust paperpacket and White Textured Cardstock (which CTMH is having a HUGE HAITI fundraiser using Textured cardstock as the promotion - check back later for more details)!!!!

I made a flower using Black Gingham ribbon (non-CTMH, I think) and a Twinkle Brad for the center.  I decided not to color in the cupakes and just added prisma glitter to the tops and only colored in the candles.  I used Wishes again and pop-dotted the center piece with the cupcakes.  The cubcakes are actually a part of the stamp that has a cake stand, but I masked out the stand and just stamped the cupcakes end-to-end.  I inked distressed with Grey Wool and Watermelon (direct to paper).
