Do you ever sit down to scrapbook, pull out your photos and supplies…and then stare at that blank 12" x 12" page wondering where in the world to start?

That is EXACTLY why I love working with sketches!

A sketch takes away that initial “blank page” moment. You already have a roadmap for where your photos, patterned papers, title and embellishments could go—but notice I said could. A sketch isn’t a set of rules. It’s a jumping-off point!

One Sketch + Eleven Photos

For this layout, I started with a sketch from our NEW Scrapbooking Sketchbook Vol 7 and used it to document a mother/daughter shopping day.

And apparently I had a LOT to document because I ended up with ELEVEN photos!

Coffee, Bath & Body Works, Target, back-to-school shopping…it was one of those ordinary days that turned into a memory worth keeping.

The “Nine for Nine” trend gave me a fun little theme for the page, but the sketch helped me figure out how to actually get all those photos onto the layout without making the finished pages feel like a giant photo collage.

That’s one of my favorite things about using sketches.

You don’t have to follow them exactly.

Change the photo sizes.
Add another photo.
Remove a photo.
Flip the sketch.
Stretch it across two pages.
Move the title.
Add more patterned paper.

The sketch gets you started—and then YOU make it yours.

NEW Stampin' Hot Foil System...

Meet Metallic Magic: Why I'm So Excited About Stampin' Up!'s NEW Stampin' Hot Foil System!

The wait is almost over! Beginning July 10th, Stampin' Up! is introducing something completely new—the Stampin' Hot Foil System! If you've ever admired those gorgeous metallic details on high-end handmade cards and wondered how they were created, you're going to love what this new system can do.

As someone who loves adding special touches to my cards and scrapbook layouts, I'm always looking for products that create a "WOW!" factor without making the process complicated. This new system does exactly that.

What is Hot Foiling?

If you're new to hot foiling, don't worry—it's much easier than it sounds.

Instead of stamping with ink, a heated metal die transfers a beautiful metallic foil onto your cardstock. The result is a crisp, shiny design that catches the light and instantly makes your project look elegant and professionally finished.

Think of it as adding gold, silver, or colored foil accents exactly where you want them—not with glitter or embossing powder, but with smooth, mirror-like shine.

The best part? The foil becomes permanently bonded to your cardstock, so it won't rub off.

Why I'm Excited About This System

I've looked through everything Stampin' Up! has released, and several things immediately stood out to me.

It's Designed for Everyday Crafters

Some hot foil systems can be bulky or intimidating.

Stampin' Up! intentionally designed this one to be:

• Compact and easy to store
• Lightweight
• Simple to use
• Compatible with the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine

That means if you already own the Cut & Emboss Machine, you're well on your way to creating stunning foiled projects.

Safety Wasn't an Afterthought

One feature I especially appreciate is that Stampin' Up! built safety into the design.

Here's one tip that jumped out at me while reading the brochure.

Stampin' Up! recommends using the Hot Foil Rolls on smooth cardstock surfaces, especially Two-Tone Cardstock, for the best foil transfer. That's the kind of little detail that can make the difference between a good result and an amazing one.

One thing I love is the variety of Hot Foil Dies launching alongside the system.

There are designs for:
